300 Word Response to "The Grapes of Mrs. Rath"

What I got from the story The Grapes of Mrs.Rath is that Steve Mockensturm had an English teacher in high school that made a lasting impression on him. His teacher, Mrs. Rath, did not do anything so outstanding that she affected her entire class, she may not even realize how much she affected Steve, but she gave Mockensturm something so great he will never completely forget. During Mockensturm’s English class, he had some of the happiest memories of his younger life. He was allowed to go to the library and get away from all the chaos of the classroom. He spent this time reading John Steinbeck books. To Mockensturm the library was a sanctuary, and his getaway.
I can really relate to Mockensturms’s experience with a teacher because I too have had a teacher that made a lasting impression on my life. Mrs. Bronson was my second grade teacher, and is now a dear friend. She may not really know how much she changed my outlook on life, and what I do with my life, but she truly did! Mrs. Bronson taught me more then just mathematics, and English skills; Mrs. Bronson taught me life skills! She has a passion for teaching bright young minds, and treats her kids like her own. While she did teach me so much in mathematics, reading, and writing, she taught to always be kind. You should always have an open mind to new people you meet. She was only teaching my class for one month before she became seriously ill. She had to leave for the duration of the school year. Over the next two years she had numerous surgeries, and went through rounds of therapy! She pushed through everything that was going on with her sickness and made it through! She came back to teaching after about two years! Unfortunately, I was now a 4th grader, and had a new teacher and had not talked to her. She may never know what she did for me through everything, and after only having me for one month, but she really did a lot! I am so grateful to be healthy every day, and do not take it for granted.
